Early works were highly influenced by the artist's background in graphic design.  The most striking feature are the bright, bold colors that illuminate the subject and give the paintings a life-spirit intensity. By filling the canvases with the faces and figures, the paintings draw the viewer in to share the artist's creative and emotional experience. Steven Jay's work evolved in both techniques and subject. Creating mosaics collages with acrylics and mixed media on canvas or heavy pressed rag paper ... influenced by early European Mosaic works in creating this innovative technique. Currently, the artist works on his computer in Photoshop creating rich visuals that are completed on canvas.

Successful exhibitions of artist's work have been viewed at the Hollywood Arts Council shows, as well as one man shows at Various Los Angeles venues benefiting Shanti Foundation, Project Angelfood and other charities.

The artist's works is collected both privately and publicly.
